Progress to a lateral move at the halfway point and dribbling player has to play a diagonal pass to waiting player. Continue for 1-2 minutes then move to a full length pass from the outside cones. Continue for 1-2 minutes. - Three cone passing: groups of 3, 5-10 minutes.
Players A and B start on the outside cone with a ball. Player C is on the middle cone with no ball. Player A passes to player C. Player C receives ball and two-touch passes back to A. Player C turns and receives a pass from player B and repeats the steps. Continue for 10 passes and move to one touch. After 1 minute rotate players A and B into the middle. - After everyone takes a turn, drop an outside ball and have player A on the outside pass to player C on the inside, player C receives, turns, and passes to player B. Player B collects the ball, passes back to player C, who then turns and passes to Player A. Repeat for 10 passes and rotate all players into the middle.
PHASE 2: 20-40 minutes
- 1 v 1: 5 minutes
Use cone lines to create three 1 v 1 lanes. Put mini goals on the two outside lanes. If you have less than 12 players, consider dropping to just two lanes. So players can rest. Blue side starts with the ball and tries to either score on the mini goal or dribble across the line (if there is not a goal in that lane)
- 2 v 2: 5 minutes (NOTE: remove middle cones)
2 red v 2 blues (use pinnies to separate sides) coach plays in to blue or red. Play until someone scores, ball goes out, or play is dead. Rotate next group.
- 3 v 3: 5 minutes.
Same set up as 2 v 2, but add a third player to each side.
Phase 3: 40-60 minutes
- 5 v 5: 20 minutes
Use full space to play 5 v 5, using big goals. Rotate people in goal and rotate subs on and off the field.
